  1. James says:

True civilzation will begin when forced taxation is terminated.
If a system of voluntary contributions were to be implimented to fund public infrastructure, defence needs and goverment services, there certainly would be many ”freeloaders”,which would refuse to pay their ”fair share ”of expences. This would be no great evil, considering the fact that all of humanity is of course guilty of benifiting from that which no one has contributed to.What productive person created the planet we live on? What hard working citezen set the sun in space to cast life giving light and warmth upon an other wise cold dead earth.? Who among us has set the moon, the earth, the sun and all the planets in just the right position to allow for movement, the seasons, the very forces that prevent the earth from hurdeling towards oblivian ? Is there any person, political party or union that can take credit for fashioning the human reproductive system,or the processes by which the lesser life forms ,ie plants and animals sustain our own lives by the sacrifice of theirs ? No man should boast of his efforts,or his will, for even the ability to apply effort and will has been given freely.Indeed no man has earned even his own life. Being that all men exist and live by grace, through no effort of his own,no individual has authority to dictate to another what his ,her” fair share ”for the gift of living is.

We live in a time in which freedom is nearly extinct.Sadly, many Americans have accepted the lie that freedom is little more than the acceptance of responcibility, responcibility that is often dictated by those in so called positions of authority. While it is true that each of us are bound by certain moral obligations,to be free entails the right to choose the greater part of the obligations we are bound to.The free individual ,if truly free ,is at liberty not only to reject most unchosen obligations ,but to fullfill rightfull obligations ,in such a manner that he or she chooses.

Americans are told that they are free. Many of us believe this to be true, despite the fact that if we do not pay a certain amount of our income by a certain time-and we do not choose the time nor the amount-we can be inprisoned, deprived of property and even possibly killed.Yes, If you attempt to resist arrest, for income tax evasion you can be killed,or you could be killed in prison by other inmates,or for trying to escape. When an individual can be deprived of liberty and even life for failing to pay a certain amount of money, that individual is not free. Who among us can put a monetary price on freedom?

Yes, we are morally obligated to assume certain responcibilities pertaining to the common good of our country. However,as a free people we should be at liberty to choose amongst the many ways to serve the common good of our country. If we are not free to choose the manner and extent of our patriotic contributions, then we are not free. We should stop kidding ourselves and demand that we be free.
